Although Tanzania has stunning scenery and amazing natural wonders like beaches, lakes, waterfalls, and savannahs, the wildlife is the main draw. More than 300 different species of mammals call this place home, including well-known creatures like lions and zebras as well as lesser-known ones like the gerenuk.
Tanzania is a fantastic location for wildlife safaris at any time of the year, but especially during the migration when herds of zebra and wildebeest travel across the plains on their yearly migrations.
When you go, you can expect to see a wide variety of animals, including buffalo, elephants, cheetahs, lions, and many others, either relaxing in the shade, feeding, or ambling across the plains. If you know where to look, you can even see rhinos and chimpanzees on a safari, and Nolan Africa Safaris can take you there.
The animals on a safari may be the main draw, but you’ll also see beautiful birds and insects. More than 1,000 different bird species can be found in Tanzania, which attracts bird watchers. However, anyone can enjoy Tanzania’s beautiful birdlife. If you’re interested, your Nolan Africa Safaris guide will assist you in identifying and learning about Tanzania’s birdlife.
So if a safari is on your mind, you might be unsure of where to begin. The Northern Circuit is the busiest wildlife route. Wildebeest herds, flocks of magnificent pink flamingos flying through the eerie mist of alkaline lakes, and much more can be seen here.
The majority of guests who go on safari in the Northern Circuit also go to Arusha to experience its rich cultural heritage. The national parks like Serengeti, Tarangire, and Lake Manyara, however, will be the highlights of your trip if wildlife is your primary interest.
Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Crater is among its most well-known tourist attractions, and for good reason. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a world heritage site and the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. The crater itself contains an incredible variety of wildlife and serves as a miniature version of the enormous Serengeti National Park. It is truly amazing that even if you only spend one day in the Ngorongoro Crater during your safari, you can still see all the big carnivores for which Africa is most well-known.
You’ll be surrounded by animals when you visit Ngorongoro Crater and are likely to see elephants, black rhinoceros, hippopotamus, buffalo, eland, zebra, wildebeest, hartbeest, waterbuck, warthog, gazelle, baboons, and monkeys, to name just a few. There are also about 20,000 large mammals living inside the crater walls at any given time.
Your safari will provide a singular and breathtaking display of wildlife in its natural habitat wherever you go, and the scenery is varied.
Tanzania is renowned for its stunning coastline, where hundreds of miles of golden sand meet lush green palm trees, as well as for its top-notch wildlife safaris. Our expansive lakes are not only lovely, but they also serve as a haven for numerous fish and waterfowl. If you want to challenge your physical limits, you can hike to Mount Kilimanjaro, known as the “Roof of Africa,” which towers majestically above the plain.
You can combine a safari with sports like balloon safaris, caving, snorkelling, diving, hiking, or deep sea fishing because there are so many diverse landscapes to choose from. Safaris that involve walking are another unusual and incredibly rewarding experience.
Tanzania frequently experiences sweltering daytime temperatures of 30°C (86°C), but from June to September, cooling sea breezes lower the temperature to a comfortable level, making that a great time for your safari.
Please view our various itineraries to determine which one most interests you in order to learn more about our safaris. The Northern Circuit safaris are the most well-known, but other locations draw wildlife enthusiasts looking to get away from the crowds or see particular animals like gorillas or rhinos.
